Juventus are gearing up for their Champions League league phase match away against Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig on Wednesday, which will see the meeting of the two best defences in Europe so far this season.

Juventus and RB Leipzig: Best defences in Europe so far

Juventus have the outright best defensive record in any of Europe’s top five leagues so far in 2024-25, as they are yet to concede a single goal in any of their first six Serie A matches of the campaign.

The Bianconeri have finished all of their league matches with either one of two scorelines: Either a 3-0 victory or a 0-0 draw.

Thiago Motta began his start to life at the Allianz Stadium with 3-0 victories over Como and Hellas Verona, before being held to three consecutive 0-0 draws by Roma, Empoli and Napoli. They got back to winning ways over the weekend with another 3-0 victory away at Genoa.

RB Leipzig, meanwhile, possess the joint-second best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues so far this season. They have conceded twice from their first five matches of the Bundesliga campaign, a record only matched by Liverpool in the Premier League.

Marco Rose’s side have kept a clean sheet in four out of their five Bundesliga games so far this term, with the two goals they have conceded coming in a 3-2 victory away against Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, who are coincidentally hosting Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

In terms of Champions League standings, Juventus are currently in the sought-after top eight positions following a 3-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven two weeks ago, while Leipzig are currently sat in 23rd in the new league ranking after a 2-1 loss away to Atletico Madrid.
