European Super League post official statement in reaction to Chelsea leaving | OneFootball

Yesterday was an absolutely crazy rollercoaster of a day. In fact, the last two days have been.

It was only very late on Sunday night when Chelsea were announcing their involvement in the newly launched breakaway European Super League.

Of course, this was greeted with anger, shock and discontentment from fans, who then proceeded to protest outside Stamford Bridge in their thousands before the Brighton match last night.

It appeared to of had an instant effect, and after Petr Cech was seen outside trying to play peacemaker, Chelsea finally announced early Wednesday morning that they had started a process to leave the ESL.

Joyous scenes erupted at Stamford Bridge and Blues fans across the globe celebrated! It felt like real victory for the fans, the ones that really matter.

The ESL have since released their official response in the form of a statement, they are planning to ‘re-shape’ the current project now, and believe the withdrawal from English clubs was ‘forced.’
