With the top three places on the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table settles in R38, the battle for European qualification takes centre stage as LOSC, Rennes and Monaco duke it out for the final two tickets to continental competition. It's going down to the wire!

Roazhon Park… the Stade Pierre-Mauroy… the Stade Louis II… Three stadiums more than used to hosting European football. However, next season, one will miss out... With just one game to go, fourth-placed Lille are the likeliest team to treat their fans to Europa League football, but just one point separates them from their chasers! The advantage in that chase is now with Rennes, after they beat Monaco 2-0 last weekend. The result represented a fourth defeat in six games for Philippe Clement's men - that's as many as in their 26 previous outings!

"What can I say?! Things are going wrong at the moment; we know it's not good but we have one game left," said Monaco's France stopper Axel Disasi. "All we can do is fight!" To avoid missing out on Europe for a third time in five years, Monaco have to beat Wissam Ben Yedder's former side Toulouse. Meanwhile, fresh from beating, and therefore overtaking Monaco, Rennes will end the season with a Brittany derby! Gouiri on target

"We knew how important this game was in the race for Europe! But we won't get carried away - next week's game with Brest is huge," confessed 15-goal Rennes hit-man Amine Gouiri. "If we fail against Brest, tonight will have counted for nothing!" Bruno Genesio's men have scored 11 goals in their last three games, and their superior goal difference could be a factor in deciding qualification. Four of those have been netted by Gouiri, who is leading his side into battle with real belief! "Tactics are always important but the game will be a mental battle," Gouiri declared. "We have to be strong, it'll be tough but the win is all we care about!" Will Les Dogues have their day?

As for Lille, who end the season against relegated Troyes, the celebrations after beating Nantes last weekend resembled those of a side confident in their ability to see out the task at hand!

"We're on course to get the fourth place we've been chasing after a long time," said LOSC's top scorer Jonathan David, whose 24 goals have him third on the Ligue 1 Uber Eats scorers chart. "We're there now, great, but we need to focus again to make sure this spot is ours!" They may not know it, but only twice has a team with 66 points to their name after 37 games finished outside of the top four. "The more pressure there is on a game, the more emotional you get," admitted David. "And when you win, it's beautiful!" Musical chairs!

One will jubilantly join Coupe de France winners Toulouse in the Europa League, one will settle for the Conference League, one will miss out completely - and face a summer of uncertainty! Makes sure to tune in this weekend as Ligue 1 Uber Eats's Round 38 puts a cap on a thrilling season 2022-23!
