It’s been an exciting week of European club football both domestically and in the Champions League.
Because of that pesky international break, it’s been two weeks since we last posted our weekly Player Power Rankings but here’s how we’re looking this week.
Scored a brilliant brace against Manchester City in mid-week, the first of which was an absolute peach. Regular watchers of Lyon will be wondering why he doesn’t play like that all the time.
The 21-year-old scored a brilliant hat-trick in his side’s unlikely 3-3 draw away at Bayern Munich on Saturday. He’s currently on loan from Watford, and the Hornets might be getting a gem of a player back at the end of the season.
The Senegalese winger was outstanding and scored twice in Inter’s 3-0 win over Frosinone at the weekend. Monaco loaned him out in the summer and they’re probably wishing they hadn’t now.
Thauvin was again in sensational form as he bagged a hat-trick in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Amiens. That’s now 10 goals in 13 Ligue 1 games for the 25-year-old this season.
Scored arguably the goal of the weekend anywhere in Europe in Spurs’ super win over Chelsea on Saturday, and we’re just head over heels in love with this …
His brace in Tuesday’s 5-1 drubbing of Benfica meant he became the third fastest player (behind Ruud van Nistelrooy and Lionel Messi) to notch up 50 Champions League goals. Not bad at all.
Scored a brilliant goal and assisted another in Barça’s 2-1 win over PSV. The Blaugrana may not be in their richest vein of form at the moment but with this guy in their team, they’re always capable of doing damage.
This wasn’t half bad either …
Came back from injury to star for PSG in their crucial Champions League victory of Liverpool on Wednesday. When he isn’t theatrically throwing himself to the ground, he’s an absolute joy to behold.
With his fellow magician Bernardo Silva absent through injury, the Spaniard pulled the strings in his side’s 4-0 win at West Ham and was influential in the mid-week draw with Lyon too. He might just be having the best season of his career yet.
His goal in Juve’s win over SPAL last weekend took his tally to nine for the season in Serie A. There were those who laughably suggested he might struggle in Italian football, and how wrong they were.
