Real Madrid tipped to re-sign Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon

Writing in his column for The Times, former Premier League star Tony Cascarino has tipped Real Madrid to trigger the £41m buyback clause to re-sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham in the summer.

Tottenham signed Reguilon from Real Madrid in the summer for a fee of around £27.5m. Since joining the club, the Spanish international has been a huge hit. Till date, the 24-year-old has turned out 20 times for us, bagging five assists in the process.

Reguilon has made a brilliant impression in his short time at Tottenham. The Spanish international has been a rock-solid defender while he has been no short of attacking intent as well. The 24-year-old put in one of his best performances in the win against Sheffield United, impressing with his marauding runs from the left wing-back slot.

And, Cascarino is of the opinion that Real Madrid will attempt to take him back to the club after seeing the development he has made.

“Tottenham paid £27.5million for Sergio Reguilón but Real Madrid have a £41million buyback clause available at the end of this season and next, and I cannot see why they wouldn’t exercise it. “He has shown he can play in a back four, and against Sheffield United, he shone playing in a five. He has loads of energy, gets up and down the wing and is a fine footballer and defender.”

It has been claimed that Real Madrid have a buyback clause to bring back Reguilon next year. It remains to be seen if they do trigger it later this year. However, Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the decision to return will totally be upon the player himself and he is currently enjoying his time at Tottenham.
