While they have previously been linked with Newcastle’s Karl Darlow, it seems they could look further afield in an attempt to fill that void.

According to this latest update, Huddersfield have now made contact with Olympiacos about a potential loan deal for Vaclik, as they look to source that cover between the posts.

Valcik, who has 53 international caps to his name for the Czech Republic, joined Olympaicos from Sevilla back in 2021, and has since made 57 appearances in all competitions for the Greek giants.

The 33-year-old has just six months remaining on his contract with Olympiacos, meaning he is due to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign.

Hudderfield currently sit 22nd in the Championship table, three points from safety in the battle to avoid relegation to League One this season.

The Verdict

This does look as though it could be a rather useful signing for Huddersfield.

With Nicholls still out, it does seem obvious that they need to bring in another established number one quickly, to ensure they do not leave themselves under strength in that position.

In Vaclik, they would be getting a goalkeeper who has played at a high level for a number of years, and who could seemingly be a solid option between the posts for them.

As a result, it does feel that this could be on they ought to be working hard to get done, with pressure now building on clubs as time runs out in the window to complete their business.
