Turkish club Besiktas are chasing Southampton forward Paul Onuachu once again. Despite failing to sign Onuachu previously, the SuperLig club might plot an intensified move in January.
With two weeks completed in the January transfer window, the heat has begun to stride in the Premier League. And it has been nothing different for Southampton.
Having made a few signings and some players put for sale, loads of activities have been happening at the club.
Although their purchases might feel questionable, the Saints seem focused on making some big departures. With talks already going around for Sulemana's exit, another Southampton forward's future seems uncertain.
That is the case of 30-year-old forward Paul Onuachu.
As per reports from Soccernet, Besiktas look prepared to reignite their transfer interest in Onuachu. Although their interest is nothing new, the Turkish giants stand a significant chance to complete a move this time.
This is because Southampton are ready to dilute their demands for selling Onuachu. Unlike the last time Besiktas approached them, the Saints might be willing to accept a lower fee.
Since Southampton completed Onuachu's signing, his market value currently stands at an all-time low. And perhaps the club might feel it's the best time to part ways with him.
Otherwise, also, Onuachu's move to Besiktas makes complete sense.
During his loan spell for Trabzonspor in Turkey, Onuachu felt like a different player altogether. In fact, that was his best version, after he signed for Southampton in January 2023.
Further, even for Southampton, this deal could open new dimensions ahead.
In Southampton's case, it has always been the lesser, the merrier. Clearly, their excessive signings didn't work for them in the summer transfer window, and they have been facing problems now.
In this situation, Onuachu's exit move not only aids them financially but reduces the choice overload upfront.
Thus, Besiktas' interest in Paul Onuachu's move should be seen as a progressive step. Let's hope the club is able to complete the deal in this transfer window.
