Europa League round of 16 draw: Man United play Real Betis, Arsenal face Sporting Lisbon | OneFootball

The Europa League round of 16 draws has been held today, and some exciting games are on the cards.

The play-off round finished last night and eight clubs have joined the winners of the group stages.

The group stage winners were placed in the seeded pot and they will play at home in the second leg.

The eight sides that advanced from the knockout round play-offs were in the unseeded pot.

Here is the list of the last-16 games:

Union Berlin vs Union Saint-Gilloise

Sevilla vs Fenerbahce

Juventus vs Freiburg

Bayer Leverkusen vs Ferencvaros

Sporting CP vs Arsenal

Manchester United vs Real Betis

Roma vs Real Sociedad

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Feyenoord

The first legs will take place on March 9, with the second legs happening a week later on March 16.

With the away-goal rule cancelled, games level after 180 minutes will go to extra time.

The tie will be decided by a penalty shoot-out if both clubs cannot be separated after the additional 30 minutes.

The winners of the eight games will advance to the quarter-finals, with the draw for the round and the semi-finals happening on March 17.

The English Premier League clubs will fancy their chances of advancing despite the tough draws.

Arsenal won their group but could find it tricky against Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese club are fourth in the Primeira Liga at the moment after finishing second last term.

Man United have always found Spanish clubs hard to play against. Betis are pushing for a top-four finish again this term after ending last season in fifth place.

Manuel Pellegrini knows plenty about the Red Devils having faced them while at Manchester City and West Ham United.

The other La Liga clubs also have a point to prove. Sevilla and Sociedad are fourth and sixth in the league table, respectively.

Serie A clubs Roma, and especially Juventus will want to win the competition to secure a place in the Champions League next term.

Jose Mourinho’s side are third in the table, but only three points are between them and sixth-placed Atalanta.

Juve are in seventh place after points were deducted as punishment for transfer irregularities.

Bundesliga trio Freiburg, Leverkusen and Berlin also cannot be ruled out.

Saint-Gilloise, Shakhtar, Ferencvaros, Fenerbahce and Feyenoord are representing Belgium, Ukraine, Hungary, Turkey and the Netherlands, respectively.
