The draw for the Europa League’s last 16 has been made with a trio of English clubs remaining in contention.
Liverpool, Brighton and West Ham all progressed to this stage as group winners, and the former will take on Sparta Prague in their last-16 tie.
The Reds are three-time winners of the competition, while the Europa League is the only competition Jurgen Klopp has competed in with Liverpool and failed to win as a manager. The German led Liverpool to the final during his first season at Anfield, before defeat to Sevilla.
Brighton’s first-ever European campaign with continue with a glamour tie against AS Roma. Roma reached the final of the Europa League last season, but have endured a mixed campaign this term and sacked Jose Mourinho last month. Club great Daniele De Rossi has since taken charge and has overseen an upturn in results.
West Ham, who won the Europa Conference League last season, will take on German outfit Freiburg, while Scotland’s Rangers will meet Benfica.
