Bayer Leverkusen’s record in the Europa League, or in any competition this season for that matter, needs no introduction. They have not lost a game of competitive football in 12 months, with their last defeat coming against VfL Bochum on the final day of the Bundesliga season on May 27, 2023.

Atalanta, however, boast an impressive record in the Europa League themselves. Their only loss came at home against Liverpool in the quarter-final, having already risen to a 3-0 victory at Anfield the week prior.

Europa League final: Team news

Atalanta have a handful of injuries to contest with. The major news is that vice-captain Marten De Roon will not be involved after he picked up a heartbreaking knee injury during the 1-0 loss to Juventus in the Coppa Italia final last Wednesday.

Sead Kolasinac and Emil Holm missed the last few games but are available for the Final as Gasperini confirmed in his pre-match press conference.

Club captain Rafael Toloi is not expected to start, as he has not featured in the Europa League since the fourth match of the group stages. Therefore, 31-year-old Berat Djimsiti will lead Atalanta out as captain in Dublin.

Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, have a fully fit and available squad at their disposal, apart from 19-year-old Noah Mbamba, who has not been eligible to feature in the Europa League.
