Gigio has been Italy’s starter under Luciano Spalletti and the Azzurri captain in the last few games. However, many fans are pushing to see Vicario get a starting spot between the sticks, which seems pretty unrealistic at the moment.

A new chapter of the debate, which has been ongoing all season, started on social media when the UEFA Euro 2024 account asked its followers: ‘Vicario or Donnarumma?’

The ex-Milan keeper has kept 14 clean sheets in 33 appearances across all competitions with PSG this season, conceding 29 goals. Three years ago, he played a key role in Italy’s Euro 2020 win and was named the best player in the tournament.

Vicario joined Tottenham from Empoli in a €20m deal last summer and has become a fans’ favourite in North London despite keeping only seven clean sheets in 30 games, conceding 43 goals.
