Ajax have announced the permanent departure of Georges Mikautadze, who enjoyed an excellent EURO 2024 campaign.

He was the only player to score in all three of his country's group games before Georgia were eliminated by Spain in the last 16.

The 23-year-old joined Ajax last summer in a reported €16m deal from Metz, where he returned in January after just six underwhelming months in Amsterdam.

That deal contained an option to make the move permanent for an apparent €10m and although his performances were not enough to prevent Metz from being relegated, they have taken up that purchase clause.

However, Mikautadze will not remain in Ligue 2 and talks are already advanced for the forward to quickly be sold on for a swift profit.

In the coming days, Monaco are expected to finalise a move for his signature.
