Euro 2024 is on the horizon and Germany is preparing to host it’s first major tournament since 2006. We’ve got all of the details for the Olympiastadion, Berlin ahead of a summer full of international football.
Olympiastadion, Berlin will host six games at Euro 2024, including the final on July 14. The stadium has the highest capacity of the grounds chosen to host at Euro 2024 and is the home ground for 2. Bundesliga side, Hertha Berlin.
Olympiastadion, Berlin has hosted numerous events over the years, with the stadium originally built to host the 1936 Summer Olympics. The ground was also used for three matches at the 1974 World Cup, hosting three matches at the group stage, with the ground being the base for all three games played by Chile.
The stadium was renovated in 2006 to be used for the World Cup and hosted six matches, including the final where Italy beat France on penalties. One match at the 2011 Women’s World Cup was also played at the stadium whilst the 2015 Champions League final, where Barcelona triumphed over Juventus, was also played at the ground.
The stadium has also played host to other events including the 2011 World Culture Festival, the 2018 European Athletics Championship and the 2023 Special Olympics.
