Sky Sport Italia claims Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli will be included in Italy’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024, alongside Bologna‘s Giovanni Fabbian.
Fagioli is expected to be included in Italy’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024, according to Sky Sport Italia.
This coming Thursday, May 24, Luciano Spalletti will release a 30-man squad list that will start training in Coverciano until June 7, when the CT will pick the final 26-man squad for the continental tournament.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Fagioli will be part of the preliminary squad but is not expected to be included in the final team. The same is true of Bologna midfielder Fabbian.
Fagioli has just returned from a seven-month ban for gambling. The 23-year-old midfielder had admitted to having placed bets on football games through illegal platforms but accepted a plea bargain, which included getting treatment for his addiction and making a number of public appearances to raise awareness of gambling and avoid others facing a similar fate.
Fagioli has made seven Serie A appearances this season, including 20 minutes as a substitute in Juventus’ 3-3 draw against Bologna on Monday, his first competitive match since the seven-month ban was confirmed in October 2023.
