Georges Mikautadze is set to disappoint Premier League suitors after AS Monaco reached verbal agreement on personal terms with Georgia forward.

Mikautadze has catapulted himself into the thoughts of Premier League recruiters after impressing for major tournament debutants Georgia at Euro 2024, with the 23-year-old the leading scorer after the group stage with three goals.

The forward has also recorded an assist as Georgia have qualified for the knockout rounds and has become just the ninth player to score in all three group games at a European Championship.

Mikautadze’s performances have seen him linked with a move to England, but AS Monaco are pushing ahead with plans to win the race. Personal terms have been agreed with the player according to Fabrizio Romano and a fee will now be discussed with Metz.

Mikautadze signed for Ajax last summer in a €16m deal but struggled to make an impact in the Eredivisie and was handed just two starts, before returning to former club Metz on loan in January.

He scored 13 goals in 20 league appearances during the second half of the season, though was unable to prevent Metz from being relegated from Ligue 1. The French side had an option to make his move permanent for €10m and will now look to bank a profit on the in-demand striker.
