Pernille Harder is already a legend of the game.
Her exploits for German giants Wolfsburg and Chelsea have seen the 29-year-old win virtually every major trophy available to her, including four Bundesliga titles, two Super Leagues, two FA Cups and four German Pokals.
On the international stage, though, Harder has had to contend with more than her share of heartbreak.
At the last Euros in 2017, the Danes went all the way to the final where they faced hosts the Netherlands.
And despite a first half strike from Harder that made the game 2-2, the Dutch overpowered their guests in the second half and claimed their first ever international title.
This summer, however, could be the one that finally earns Harder and Denmark the trophy theyâve deserved for so long.
In the five years since that final defeat, Harder has gone from hard-working forward to arguably one of the very best players on the continent, commanding a world-record transfer fee in the meantime as she swapped Wolfsburg for Chelsea in 2020.
This past season especially has been an exceptional one for Harder at Chelsea.
The Blues won the Womenâs Super League on the final day of the season and got the better of Manchester City in an enthralling FA Cup final with Harder integral to both successes.
âHer standards day in, day out should be what every young person should look up to,â coach Emma Hayes told Sky during last season.
âShe takes responsibility, sheâs accountable, sheâs there when it matters and sheâs a key player for this team.
âIâm so delighted sheâs part of our squad.â
Experience has now been added to her undeniable ability. With Harder the key woman, Denmark could spring a major surprise in England.
