Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Eupen are close to agreeing a deal with Russian central defender Aleksandr Filin.

The former Khimki defender is a current free agent and is close to a move to eastern Belgium. The 26 year-old central defender played 14 games for the Russian side this season, but his time with the club came to an end in January. The defender can play anywhere across the back four and will give Eupen greater defensive versatility.

The side have seen a number of summer signings depart the club already, with Jan Kral moving back to the Czech Republic and Sambou Soumano returning to Lorient after a loan. Australian international James Jeggo also left the club over the weekend, moving to Scottish side Hibernian and making his debut in the Scottish Cup.

At the other end, the Pandas have brought in Ibrahim Diakité on loan from Reims, as well as Brandon Baiye on a two and a half year deal from Clermont Foot.
