Eupen have announced the signing of Victor Pálsson from DC United as they look to bolster their defence. The former Schalke 04 and Darmstadt man has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2026. The 32-year-old was once part of the Liverpool set up and has been capped 36 times by the Icelandic national team. He goes straight into the squad for the Pandas opening game against Westerlo.

Pálsson has played for a number of clubs in both Europe and the United States. He left Liverpool to join Hibernian in 2011, before a year later he went across the pond to play for New York Red Bulls. In August of 2012 he returned to Europe with NEC Nijmegen, initially on loan before the transfer was made permanent. After 55 games and four goals for the side he spent a year in Sweden with Helsingborg before moving to Denmark to join Esbjerg fB for two seasons. Some time in Switzerland with FC Zürich preceded his move to Germany where he played for two clubs. After 71 games for SV Darmstadt he joined Schalke 04 for the 2021/2022 season, making 30 appearances. In the summer of 2022 he joined D.C United but has now returned to Europe with Eupen.
