This campaign was no different, despite Manchester City winning a historic Treble last season, as they reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, only to fall on penalties having not lost a single game in the tournament.

Elsewhere and City will be hoping to claim successive domestic doubles in the weeks that remain, with a Premier League title battle still in their hands, and an FA Cup final against Manchester United to come on Saturday 25 May.

But as attentions remains firmly focussed on the on-field action, officials within the City Football Academy offices appear to be hard at work finalising their plans for the highly-anticipated and forthcoming summer transfer window.

According to the information of GIVEMESPORT, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are plotting a ‘major squad revamp’ ahead of next season and could embark on a £200 million spending spree when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

It is claimed that West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta is ‘likely’ to seal a move to the Etihad Stadium, while Jamal Musiala has also ’emerged as a genuine target’, despite City aware that it will be ‘difficult’ to reach an agreement with Bayern Munich.

Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and Benfica’s Joao Neves are also claimed to be of ‘definite interest’ to City boss Pep Guardiola, and as many as three players could be welcomed into the Etihad squad ahead of next season.

Manchester City are also said to be ‘refusing to rule out the possibility of identifying new targets’ as they ‘continue making plans for reinforcements’ following their recent UEFA Champions League exit to Real Madrid.

On the subject of possible notable outgoings, GIVEMESPORT go on to report that Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva are expected to be the subject of bids.

The upcoming few transfer windows could also be some of the final deals completed by Manchester City’s long-standing sporting director Txiki Begiristain, with City Xtra‘s understanding being that his time at the club is coming to a close.

Sources: Influential sporting director planning simultaneous exit alongside Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola

Sources have indicated to City Xtra that the 59-year-old holds a desire to bring an end to his time at the Etihad Stadium alongside Pep Guardiola, despite a date for those exits not set in stone or having been decided alongside their boardroom colleagues.

Pep Guardiola is entering the final year of his current Manchester City contract, and while Etihad chiefs will be insistent on the legendary Catalan boss extending by at least a further 12 months, such conversations are yet to take place.
