Espanyol’s 32-year-old wide player Aleix Vidal has tested positive for covid-19 according to a report by Diario Sport.

Vidal delivered the news via an Instagram story, showing that he’s training at home using an exercise bike and dumbbells. That’s the best way to combat the virus, he said.

Vidal isn’t the first Espanyol player to be taken out of action by Coronavirus. Diego Lopez and Sergi Darder, two pillars of the Catalan side, have also tested positive for the virus, although they returned to action in time for the match with Real Betis.

Betis won that match 4-1 at the RCDE Stadium to continue their mightily impressive start to the season. They’re currently third in La Liga while newly-promoted Espanyol are down in 13th.

Espanyol face Athletic Club next up on February seventh due to the international break, and Vidal will hope to have long shaken off the virus by then.
