The club delivered the news at midnight via an official statement on the club website.

AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined the league as Founding Clubs.

The statement confirms intentions for clubs to continue playing in their domestic leagues as usual, but for them, this will replace the Champions League etc, being playing on Wednesday evenings throughout the season.

Domestic leagues have already disapproved the ESL, and UEFA will hold an executive meeting today and vow to take legal action.

FIFA have also confirmed their official ‘disapproval’ on the idea.
