Ermedin Demirović (26) was not a part of the Augsburg squad for their first pre-season friendly of the season, against Schwaben Augsburg, as the Bosnian forward’s move to Stuttgart intensifies.
According to Kicker, Demirović is set to join Stuttgart with only the final details needed to be clarified. Augsburg will receive a reported €26m including bonuses, which would make Demirović the club’s most expensive departure after Abdul Rahman Baba joined Chelsea in 2015 for €20m.
Stuttgart finished runners-up to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last season, securing Champions League football for the first time since 2009/10. And with Serhou Guirassy likely on his way out and VfB yet to reach an agreement with Brighton to sign Deniz Undav on a permanent basis, the Swabian club are in need of attacking reinforcements, which is where Demirović comes in.
Since joining the club from Freiburg in 2022, Demirović has scored 23 and created 16 in 66 games across all competitions for Augsburg. Last season, as the Bavarian club narrowly missed out on European football, the Bosnian forward scored 15 and created 10 in 33 Bundesliga games.
