Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has received a significant injury update ahead of the return of club football this weekend.
The Norway international became one of a several Manchester City first-team stars to sustain fitness problems during the opening days of the November international break, taking on a problem in his ankle during the 2-0 victory over the Faroe Islands.
While the injury did not force Haaland off the field of play prematurely given the problem arising late in the contest, fears over his longer-term availability for Manchester City arose, with a number of high-profile fixtures looming across competitions in the coming days.
City host Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend in a mammoth clash at the top of the division, and the reigning top-flight champions have now received an update on the fitness of their striker ahead of the meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
As per the information of Fabrizio Romano, Erling Haaland’s most recent injury sustained during international action is ‘not serious’ and he will be fit for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
Erling Haaland was not risked by Norway to take on Scotland on Sunday evening in a 3-3 draw, however Fabrizio Romano confirms that the 23-year-old striker will be back regularly to feature for Pep Guardiola upon the conclusion of the international break.
While Erling Haaland will undoubtedly be the most welcome boost to Manchester City’s ongoing fitness problems, Pep Guardiola has had to watch a number of his stars succumb to fitness problems over the last few days.
Mateo Kovacic is expected to be ruled out for up to three weeks with a muscular problem, while Nathan Ake, Ederson, and Matheus Nunes in particular all had to withdraw from their respective international call-ups due to fitness issues.
Rodri made a return to Spain action on Sunday evening having missed their first contest of the November international break as a precaution, with the defensive midfielder an integral component of Manchester City’s system.
