Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has issued a brutally honest admission concerning the Premier League since his move to the division two years ago.

The Norwegian international has been nothing short of sensational since first moving to the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, claiming successive Premier League Golden Boot awards and winning every trophy available bar a few.

Despite his injury struggles during the winter phase of the recently-concluded Premier League season, Erling Haaland still managed to notch 27 goals in the English top-flight, shrugging aside competition from the likes of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

While some may feel that Haaland has made life in Manchester so far seem easy, taking the English game by storm since his arrival, the 23-year-old has insisted that such a feeling is far from reality.

Speaking after Manchester City’s 3-1 win over West Ham that secured their fourth successive Premier League title on Sunday afternoon, Erling Haaland admitted that despite his immediate success, the division has been ‘harder than expected’.

“(The Premier League has) been harder than expected. Every game, the way every game is not far away from a final,” Haaland admitted. “You come away somewhere and even at home you have to be 90 minutes. You can’t relax after 45 minutes. Every game is so intense and tough.”

Haaland went on to glow about the process in which Manchester City secured their record-breaking top-flight crown this weekend, feeling that the job was somewhat done after victory over Tottenham in midweek.

“It’s fantastic, beautiful and I’m enjoying it,” said Haaland. “I think after we won at Spurs, we kind of knew we were going to do it. We come at home with the pressure and everything, I was confident.”

He continued, “We had done a little extra (after the Club World Cup) because that’s when it really matters. I’m happy.”

Erling Haaland and his Manchester City teammates still have work to do this season, despite being granted a few days off following the conclusion of the Premier League season, with an FA Cup final against Manchester United on the horizon.

City take on Erik ten Hag’s side in a repeat of last season’s showpiece on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off at Wembley Stadium scheduled for 3PM (UK), and broadcast live on BBC One.
