Erling Haaland and the Champions League is a match made in heaven.
The Manchester City striker had already made history when he became the youngest and fastest player to reach 30 Champions League goals when he netted a quickfire double in the first half against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
But he wasnât done there.
Just before half-time he completed his fifth hat-trick of the season, before he netted a fourth and fifth goal in the second half to put the game completely beyond doubt.
Those five goals meant he equalled the record jointly held by Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano for the most goals scored in a single Champions League match.
Messi did it for Barcelona in a 7-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in 2012, while Adrianoâs five-goal haul came for Shakhtar Donetsk against BATE Borisov in October 2014.
Haaland was denied the chance to score a double hat-trick and break the record when he was substituted in the 63rd minute.
But still, not a bad nightâs work at all.
