Sunday was a day of mixed emotions for Erling Haaland.

Haaland started up front as Manchester City took on newly promoted Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

But despite City dominating possession, they were struggling to get their well-marked striker in the game, and he only managed four touches of the ball in the first 36 minutes.

The Norwegian was then given a golden opportunity to open the scoring when City were awarded a penalty for John Egan handball.

Haaland stepped up and with his fifth touch of the game he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, only for his penalty to come agonisingly back off the post.

That is the second penalty he has missed in a City shirt, but he didn’t have to wait long for his third Premier League goal of the season, when he headed home from Jack Grealish’s cross in the second half.

The 22-year-old has now scored against 18 of the 21 teams he has faced in the Premier League.
