Christian Eriksen will not be leaving Manchester United before the closure of Turkey’s transfer window, despite interest from Galatasaray.

The Turkish champions had considered an approach to sign Eriksen before the deadline on February 9, but have decided against a move this month. Galatasaray remain keen to sign the Denmark midfielder, though ESPN report that an approach will wait until the summer window.

Eriksen has struggled for a regular role in Erik ten Hag’s team this season and has started just nine games in the Premier League. The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo has increased competition for a place in midfield, with Eriksen an unused substitute for each of the last three games.

The 31-year-old is contracted to Manchester United until 2025, though could be allowed to leave as the Red Devils rebuild in midfield.

Mason Mount has missed much of his debut campaign through injury and will be expected to take a prominent role next season, while the club continue to be linked with further reinforcements in the engine room.

Should Eriksen move to Istanbul, he would unite with ex-Premier League names Wilfried Zaha, Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Torreira in Okan Buruk’s squad. Galatasaray are currently second in the Turkish Super Lig table, behind arch-rivals Fenerbahce on goal difference.
