Erik ten Hag is determined to keep his Ajax team on their toes despite another convincing win on Tuesday, with Fortuna Sittard on the receiving end this time.

Goals from Steven Berghuis, Noussair Mazraou, Dušan Tadić, Mohammed Kudus, and Nicolás Tagliafico saw the Amsterdam giants maintain their unbeaten start to the Eredivisie campaign.

While it may have been another heavy scoreline, Ajax manager ten Hag refused to dismiss the hosts’ efforts.

“An easy evening? It is of course not like that,” he told ESPN (via Voetbal International).

“We invested from the start, showed a fast pace and forced the goals. The attitude was good and so was the co-operation. I am satisfied with that.”

Ajax have scored 19 goals in their last three games in all competitions, but ten Hag was still critical of what he saw as a lack of ruthlessness from his charges.

“What I’m not happy about is taking advantage of the opportunities. It takes too long for the 0-1 to fall.

“We have to set ourselves higher standards. It’s up to us. The opponent does everything in his power. We impose a high tempo on them and then they will make mistakes.

“I want to see a hungry team, we have to keep raising the bar.”

Next up for the defending champions is a home tie with Groningen on Saturday.
