Ajax manager Erik ten Hag was left less than impressed by his side’s display in Saturday’s pre-season friendly with RB Leipzig.

Dušan Tadić gave the Dutch side the lead inside the opening five minutes in Austria, but Christopher Nkunku levelled for the German side early in the second half.

Asked for comment after the game at the Untersberg-Arena, ten Hag said: “It was messy.”

Pushed on if there were aspects of the performance that pleased him, the manager gave a blunt response.

“Wow, really good? Nothing really,” ten Hag said (per Voetbal International).

“Just the fact that you do get a result here, that’s good. But we didn’t enjoy the game for a moment.”

He will no doubt be looking for signs of improvement when the defending Eredivisie champions entertain Premier League outfit Leeds in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

That will be final warm-up before opening their domestic campaign with the Johan Cruyff Shield clash against PSV next Saturday.
