Erik ten Hag was in the mood to lavish praise following Ajax’s emphatic record win in Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with PSV.
Steven Berghuis, Sébastian Haller, Antony, Davy Klaassen, and Dušan Tadić all got on the scoresheet as the defending Eredivisie champions ran riot at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Ten Hag is notoriously difficult to please, but even he had to acknowledge the brilliance of his side who have been in scintillating form in recent weeks.
Remko Pasveer kept his second clean sheet in three league appearances this term, with his manager claiming that the veteran goalkeeper “got us through” some difficult moments early on.
Haller scored his 13th goal in 14 games in all competitions, leading ten Hag to comment on the Ivory Coast international striking qualities.
“He has more technique than anyone thinks and he is a good finisher,” the Ajax manager told ESPN (via Voetbal International).
And Berghuis, who got the ball rolling from his new #10 position, came in for special mention.
“I really enjoyed him again. Almost everything he does is spot on,” ten Hag said of the former Feyenoord winger.
“A solid ball, always the right choice and a lot of game movements and a beautiful goal. He’s playing great at the moment.”
Ajax, who are now four points clear of PSV, will be in action again at Heracles next Saturday.
