In his Q&A session with Manutd.com, the Dutchman has now revealed that Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw will resume team training with the club in the near future.

The 54-year-old added that several other key players are also not too far away and could be available during the final weeks of the campaign.

He said: “I think so and, some players, they return now on the pitch. Licha Martinez, Luke Shaw. Also, I don’t think Victor Lindelof is too far away, as is Rapha Varane.”

“So, yeah, there are players returning. Jonny Evans, I don’t want to forget him so, yeah, there are players returning and I think that’s what we need when we go into the last tough weeks of the season.”

United have been hampered by injuries this season. The defensive issues have contributed to the club’s lack of stability at the back in recent months.

The Red Devils are almost out of contention for Champions League qualification, but they must focus on winning their remaining games to book a Europa League spot.

The club also have a huge FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25. Ten Hag will want his key defenders available in time for the Wembley Stadium showdown.

The manager may ideally look to reintroduce them in the final weeks of the league campaign so they are prepared for the big challenge in London.
