Erik ten Hag cut a pretty content figure after Eredivisie leaders Ajax saw off Groningen on Saturday.

Edson Álvarez opened the scoring five minutes before the break at the Johan Cryuff Arena, before goals from Antony and Noussair Mazraoui wrapped up the points in the second half.

“I enjoyed it, we played excellently,” Ajax manager ten Hag said afterwards, per De Telegraaf.

“FC Groningen can defend very well, and we still got a lot of opportunities. I’ve seen fantastic goals and we haven’t given anything away.”

However despite Ajax’s recent scoring spree, their boss is still looking for greater cutting edge in front of goal.

“One point of criticism is that we missed too many opportunities. Those 100% chances have to go in. If you don’t, you could be in trouble,” the 51-year-old said.

“You saw that two years ago in the final phase of our home (Champions League) game against Chelsea. We played very well then, but we lost (1-0).”

The Amsterdam outfit will be in Champions League action on Tuesday when they host Turkish side Beşiktaş in Matchday 2 of Group C.
