Ajax boss Erik ten Hag still hopes that Brian Brobbey will extend his stay at Ajax, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
The 18-year-old was the hero on Thursday night, scoring about a minute after coming on as the home side took down Willem II 3-1 thanks to his 83rd-minute strike and a late insurance goal from Dušan Tadić, which Brobbey picked up an assist on.
“We really want to keep him,” ten Hag told ESPN. “He can sign a nice contract and have a bright future here.
“He is young, eager, and has all the qualities you wish to see in an Ajax striker.”
Ajax, who now have a four-point advantage over chasers PSV, will next play away to fourth-placed AZ on Sunday.
