Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United is increasingly certain after the out-of-favour forward took part in an ill-advised interview where he was heavily critical of the club and Erik ten Hag.

The fallout from the ordeal has seen supporters vent their frustrations online and the majority of fans would like Ten Hag to flex his muscles again, having already sanctioned Ronaldo for poor discipline this season.

After refusing to take part in the 2-0 win over Tottenham earlier this season, Ronaldo was banished from first-team training for three days and was also left out of the travelling squad for the next game.

Now, it is being reported that Ten Hag has made his mind up on Ronaldo’s future at the club after the latest debacle. According to ESPN, the Dutchman has told Old Trafford officials that the 37-year-old should not play for the club again.

As per the report, Ten Hag held a meeting with Joel Glazer, John Murtough and Richard Arnold to discuss the appropriate course of action. It’s claimed that Ten Hag was scheduled to leave for a family holiday but pushed that back to deal with this situation.

Furthermore, the report adds that United are now taking legal advice over the matter. It’s said that United feel it would be ‘almost impossible’ for the striker to return to the first-team squad after the World Cup.

Some first-team players are said to be ‘furious’ with the timing of Ronaldo’s interview. Only hours earlier, Alejandro Garnacho scored a 93rd minute to secure three points at Craven Cottage.
