Speaking to de Volkskrant (h/t Sports mole), Ajax manager Erik ten Hag feels that he is ready to move on from his current role and take up the next challenge of his career amidst interest from Manchester United.

The Dutchman has made Ajax a winning team in the last few years without compromising on their style of play. The veteran manager has been influential in the Dutch team’s success at the Domestic and European levels. The Dutch manager’s excellence shows in his record as he has won 139 of his 188 games in charge of de Godenzonen.

Furthermore, the 51-year-old manager has won two Eredivisie titles with de Joden and is on the path of winning another one as Ajax stands one point clear of Feyenoord at the top of the table. However, he believes it could be the time to move on to the next chapter of his career.

The Dutch manager revealed his enthusiasm for a more significant challenge and suggested that he is ready to make the switch.

“I think I’m ready for it [to move to a top foreign club]. I would be happy to take up that challenge.”

However, Ten Hag also revealed that he is not rushing the decision and has backed himself for future challenges. With much of the season still to come, he has time to think about his options and come to an informed decision.

“But I’m not chasing it. If it turns out that that step will never come, I will not say that my coaching career has failed. But I think I have sufficient competences to take on that challenge.”

Manchester United have decided to appoint an interim manager until the end of this season. However, they are in the market to find a quality manager who can take over the managerial role from Ralf Rangnick next summer. It is believed that Ten Hag stands high on United’s wishlist to take over the managerial role next season.

The Dutch manager is known for his attacking and eye-pleasing football. He led the Ajax team to Champions League Semi-final in 2019 with youngsters. The veteran manager has the ability to bring the best out of his players.

The Red Devils could benefit vastly from his vast knowledge about the game and tactical superiority.
