Ryan Gravenberch wrote his name into the history books on Wednesday night with his Champions League strike against Midtjylland.
His goal in the 3-1 win was his first in this competition – and was a phenomenal one at that.
It is also one that also sees him enter the history books as the third youngest Dutchman to do so.
“We already knew about his qualities and that he is a really great finisher,” Ajax coach Erik ten Hag told reporters afterwards.
“He’s been really looking for that so hopefully he is more relaxed about it now.
“It was a great goal but last year he also scored a lot of great goals too. It is a huge quality of his.”
But it was more the quality of the strike that was most pleasing for the teenager himself.
“When I got the ball, I just thought ‘why not shoot?’ and it is my first this season and first in the Champions League,” Gravenberch told Uefa afterwards.
“It was a beauty as well! I was so happy when it hit the underside of the bar and went in.”
