Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.

Despite leading the Red Devils to FA Cup glory last season, Ten Hag’s future was in doubt following an eighth-place finish in the league and a disastrous Champions League campaign.

New United owners INEOS conducted an extensive end-of-season review and decided to keep faith with the Dutch manager, who has now penned a fresh two-year contract.

“I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with the club to continue working together,” Ten Hag said via United’s official website.

“Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined.

“However, we must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for English and European titles.”

As Ten Hag prepares for his third year in charge, he is set to welcome new members into his coaching staff, with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake expected to join the club.

United will kick off their pre-season tour with friendlies against Rosenborg and Rangers on July 15 and 20 before heading to the United States to take on Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool.

They will have a first shot at silverware when they lock horns with Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10.
