Erik ten Hag has dismissed claims that his agent has too much of an influence over Manchester United’s transfer business.

Manchester United were busy this summer with signings including Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

But we are just a month into the new season and the media are running hit pieces on Ten Hag and his representative Kees Vos. It’s like the UK media are preparing to walk onto the training pitches at Carrington with pitch-forks all in a pathetic burst of hoax outrage.

A report did the rounds with the suggestion that club staff were concerned about Vos’ influence over recruitment. It is believed his Sports Entertainment Group (SEG), which represents Ten Hag, were responsible for £178m of transfers since the Dutchman became United manager.

Two of this summer’s arrivals are represented by SEG, including Hojlund and and Sofyan Amrabat.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday afternoon, Ten Hag explained to reporters that the club and SEG consult one another over transfer activity and that has been the agreement from day one.

Ten Hag said (via The Mirror): “It can’t be, because we make very good agreements about it from the start.

“How we cooperate in that manner, for player decisions, transfers, it’s always 50-50. We both have a veto, the club, represented by John Murtough, and me. So there can never be a distraction.”
