PSV Eindhoven midfielder Erick Gutiérrez will definitely leave the club this summer to join Chivas Guadalajara, according to Eindhovens Dagblad. The Mexican midfielder has spent the last five years at the Philips Stadion, but after falling down the pecking order, the 28-year-old will return to Mexico.
Erick Gutiérrez joined PSV from Liga MX side Pachuca in 2018. Since then the 28-year-old has featured 141 times for the Dutch giants, scoring 12 times and providing 12 assists. During his time at the Philips Stadion, the 36-time Mexican international won two KNVB Cups and a Dutch Super Cup.
Last summer Gutiérrez signed a new deal with PSV valid until mid-2025. But after featuring 30 times in the Eredivisie last season, 17 times as a substitute, the central midfielder has decided to depart.
Chivas Guadalajara have agreed a deal with PSV worth €5.5m. The move is expected to be announced soon with Chivas set to kick off their Liga MX campaign against León on the 4th of July.
