Stade Brestois will make history tomorrow evening when they line up at the Stade de Roudourou to face SK Sturm Graz in their European debut.

There are few hopes for Brest in the Champions League. The debutants have been provided a difficult draw that sees them host Real Madrid and travel to FC Barcelona, but that appears to have only added to the excitement building on the Côte Atlantique.

Manager Eric Roy is well aware of the daunting task that Brest have on their hands if they hope to plot a route into the next round of the competition. However, that did not mean the team would not go out and give it their all.

As Roy explained in an interview with Ouest-France, “I believe that out of the eight teams, there are matches where we have a duty to exist. Afterwards, maybe we will get zero points as other French teams have done before us.”

A reference to the 2013/14 Champions League campaign which saw Olympique de Marseille exit the group stages without recording a single point after losing home and away to Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, and Napoli.
