Eric Dier’s Bayern future

The centre-back’s long-term future really is in the balance now as his contract with Tottenham is set to expire at the end of the term.

And early reports had suggested his time in Munich could be short lived with Thomas Tuchel’s set departure a potential issue.

But Sky Sports Germany are now claiming those early doubts over the 30-year-old no longer exist at the Allianz Arena.

Dier has now played six times for Bayern and featured for the full 90 minutes on the weekend in their 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

Tottenham’s defensive options

It feels like Ange Postecoglou’s centre-back options are really beginning to take shape having had two transfer windows at the club.

Along with the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, the Australian has the new addition Radu Dragusin to choose from.

The Romanian’s agent has suggested there is a need for patience with the 22-year-old having joined a side with quality options in his position.

But looking beyond the big-money arrivals at Hotspur Way, Postecoglou also has the exciting Ashley Phillips to look forward to using.

The youngster is impressing during his loan spell with Plymouth Argyle and could well find himself among the 58-year-old’s plans for next season.

Dier was clearly never in Postecoglou’s thinking, so any potential extension to his deal at Spurs can surely be put to bed ahead of the summer.
