Tottenham Hotspur move for Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez unlikely

Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese has ruled out a move for Santiago Gimenez next summer amidst links to Tottenham Hotspur.

The North London side are looking to appoint the Rotterdam-based club’s head coach Arne Slot ahead of next season. As a result, a number of players from the Eredivisie outfit have been associated with Spurs as well, including the Mexican striker.

But speaking to TV Azteca (h/t football.london), Te Kloese dismissed the idea of the 22-year-old parting ways with De Stadionclub. He revealed the Dutch outfit have not been made an offer for the forward so far.

“In football you never know, but for now there are no formal approaches to the club, he has a long-term contract, we have no indication that he is going to go to another club.”

Gimenez signed for Feyenoord in the summer of 2022 from Cruz Azul. The youngster has immediately made a place for himself in the Eredivisie outfit’s first team.

Slot has thrived at the Rotterdam-based club over the last two years. In the current campaign, the Dutch side have won the league title, blowing rivals PSV and Ajax Amsterdam out of the water.

Feyenoord have counted on the Mexico international to consistently find the back of the net. The 22-year-old has made 44 appearances in all competitions this season for the Eredivisie outfit, scoring 23 goals and providing three assists.

Tottenham have Harry Kane in their ranks for now. However, the England international’s current contract at Spurs is set to enter the final 12 months in the coming weeks (transfermarkt).

The North London side got Richarlison from Everton last summer. But so far, the 26-year-old has struggled to get going at the Lilywhites. We also got Arnaut Danjuma on loan in January.

More Manchester United New

Tottenham will evidently need to look at options if Kane leaves in the coming future. To that end, Gimenez is a young and talented forward. But it remains to be seen whether we will make an approach for him.
