Aston Villa scored three goals in nine minutes and earned a 3-0 victory over Everton in the English Premier League. This win was Villa’s second victory in five matches, and the home team ended Everton’s unbeaten run this season.

Emi Martinez returned to the Villa line-up after missing the previous match. Danny Ings and Watkins partnered up-front for Villa.
In the previous match, Ings was the main striker, and Watkins played behind him. Dean Smith interchanged the position of two strikers for this match. There was a concussion substitute for Villa, and both teams could make four changes each in the match.
Rafa Benitez was without four first-team players for this match. Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Pickford and Coleman were the notable absentees for the Toffees. Rondon made his first start for Everton this season in the league.
Gray was the most advanced player for the away team. Andre Gomes was introduced later in the second half and the Portuguese played as an attacking midfielder.
Aston Villa had more possession of the ball and created more attacks than Everton. The visitors clearly had more xG rate but were unable to score a goal.
The passing accuracy and shot accuracy was low for Everton. Aston Villa players came on top in almost every department in the above viz. Matty Cash was the most influential Villa player.
Aston Villa scored three goals in the space of nine minutes. Cash scored from the right, substitute Bailey scored from the left and there was an own goal scored by Digne.
Everton only shot on target was a long-range effort. Other than this chance, the players were unable to test Martinez despite attempting eight shots from inside the box.
The match experienced an almost equal amount of shots in both halves. The xT timeline shows more threat towards the end of the first half and starting of the second half.
Centre-back Mings attempted 55 passes in the match and shared 16 passes with fellow centre-back Tuanzebe.
Lucas Digne passed the ball 52 times and more than any of his teammates. He shared 10 passes with Iwobi in the match.
Matt Targett attempted seven crosses in the match and more than anyone else. The Englishman also attempted two smart passes in the match.
New-signings Gray and Townsend attempted some passes into the opposition 6-yard and 18-yard box. Townsend seven passes landed in the opposition box and Gray attempted three passes into the opposition 6-yard box.

Everton creative zones were also from the left side with Digne supporting Gray on that side. Both the players carried the highest xT from passes.

Matty Cash contested 11 defensive duels for the home team and won more than 70% of these duels.
Villa centre-backs contested 22 aerial duels and had a win rate of around 77% in the match.
The loose ball duels were contested less in number and the team won half of these duels.
Everton players defensive duels win rate was around 44% in the match. Yerry Mina was the only Everton player with an almost 100% win rate.
Rondon was beaten in the air by Villa defenders. The Venezuelan won only 25% of his aerial duels.
Yerry Mina won three out of his three loose ball duels. The players only lost one duel in the defensive third.
The xG of both the teams was almost equal, but Aston Villa created enough pressure in nine minutes and scored three goals to earn a victory. The keepers made very few saves in the match, and most of the shots were off target. This was Rafa Benitez’s first defeat as Everton manager.
