As Stuttgart sit third in the Bundesliga and are on the verge of Champions League qualification for the first time since the 2009/10 season, Enzo Millot has established himself as a key player for the Swabian club with the French youngster one of their standout performers.

Speaking exclusively to the DFL, via a press release, Millot discussed a variety of topics including his performance in the relegation playoff, playing under Sebastian Hoeneß and Stuttgart’s performances this season.

Millot recorded an assist in the first-leg of the relegation play-off against Hamburg before scoring a brace in the second-leg, when asked about the moment, the Frenchman said: “That was a real highlight of my short career to date. Those matches were played with a very high intensity and there was a lot of pressure. VfB is a club that must play in the Bundesliga. We played well and we were able to win both legs of the play-off.”

Under Hoeneß, Stuttgart has established themselves as one of the best coached clubs in the Bundesliga. Millot, who has played 38 games under the German, said: “He has helped to build our confidence as a group. He knows football very well. He’s a great coach.

“He has build our confidence a lot. He also communicates a lot with the younger players. We are a young squad. He gives us a lot of advice. He is very good at the little things like that. He is calm and he is very sure of who he is and what he is doing.”

Right now, it really does feel as though Stuttgart are creating something special. They’re making all the right moves both on and off of the pitch. Discussing VfB’s situation, Millot added: “I hope it is the start of a new era. I hope that success will last for many years and this is the start of a new era.”

Millot (21) joined Stuttgart for less than €2m in August 2021. Representing France at youth level, the attacking-midfielder was asked when he can expect to be playing for the national team.

“That’s a very good question,” said Millot. “The most important thing is performing well for my club and qualifying for European football next season. And if I’m playing well for my club and we are getting good results, there’s no reason why I wouldn’t be called up to the men’s team.”

Millot has played 27 games across all competitions for Stuttgart this season, scoring five and creating seven. Alongside Chris Führich and behind one of Deniz Undav or Serhou Guirassy, if not both, the Frenchman is a key cog in this Stuttgart side when transitioning the ball into the final third.

The Frenchman’s value to Stuttgart is also represented by his Transfermarkt market value, which currently stands at €25m.
