Enzo Maresca has issued a positive injury update on Romeo Lavia ahead of Thursday’s Conference League clash against Legia Warsaw.
The Blues will take on the Polish side in Poland in the first leg of their quarter final in what is likely to be a very hostile environment.
Chelsea boast a 100% record in the Conference League this season, and will be looking to take a positive result back to Stamford Bridge.
One player who won’t be featuring is Lavia, because he wasn’t named in the squad and the Belgian is also currently injured.
Whilst Lavia has featured more regularly than last season he’s still had a number of injury issues and has been limited to just 13 appearances in all competitions.
Lavia’s personal physio admitted the constant issues had left him baffled, and after returning against Arsenal he suffered another setback in training.
injuries have limited Lavia to just 13 appearances so far this season.
Maresca confirmed Lavia had suffered a muscular issue and with the season at a critical stage the Blues can ill afford to be without one of their most important players.
However, speaking ahead of Thursday’s game with Legia Maresca gave what appeared to be a positive update on the Belgium international.
“Hopefully, we can get Romeo [playing] very soon,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“I don’t know about the next game, but he looks good in terms of being back soon.”
When Lavia has featured this season he’s shown the clear talent he possesses and has given the Chelsea midfield a really nice balance.

Injuries have seen Lavia feature just three times since the middle of December and despite his obvious talent his injury record is a real concern for the Blues.
Fourteen appearances in almost two seasons for a player who could cost up to £58m isn’t a good return and both Lavia and the club need to work hard to ensure the same issues don’t occur next season because he’s a brilliant player.
