Enzo Maresca has admitted he’s very happy to have Jadon Sancho at Chelsea and revealed the one area in which he believes the winger can help the club.

Once again the Blues were active in the transfer window with a number of new faces arriving including the likes of Joao Felix and Pedro Neto.

Whilst fans would have been disappointed the club were unable to bring in a striker having pushed to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen all the way up to the deadline, Sancho did arrive from Manchester United.

Maresca happy to have Sancho at Chelsea

The Blues agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy for around £25m providing they don’t finish in the bottom six of the Premier League this season.

Given the amount of attacking options Chelsea have, particularly in the wide areas the signing of Sancho may have come as a surprise to many.

Quite where the winger fits in and how often he’s going to play remains to be seen, but with Chelsea facing potentially the longest season in their history, there will likely be plenty of opportunities for the England international to impress.

Sancho could make his Chelsea debut against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Maresca admitted he’s happy to have Sancho at the club and feels the winger can be key for the Blues, especially against teams who play a low block.

“I’m very happy to have Sancho at Chelsea, he’s here because we like that kind of player who can help in one vs one,” he said.

“He’s key, especially against a low block, we need him.”

There’s no doubt Sancho is a quality player, but his time at Old Trafford didn’t go to plan and the Blues will be hoping they can offer him the fresh start he needs in order to get back to the form he was showing at Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho has been training with his new team-mates during the international break and could make his debut for the Blues on Saturday against Bournemouth.
