A quick glance at Enzo Fernandez’ stat line and you’ll quickly start noticing the areas he stands out in – key passes, assists and successful long balls.

That’s what he’s been brought in to do, and he’s doing it very well so far.

But we’ve all also seen he’s not afraid to stick a foot in, and that’s exactly what the numbers bear out too.

He’s got a crazy 3.7 tackles per game. Those are some N’Golo Kante numbers. To put that into context, the second player on the list has just 2.7.

Of course this is largely a positional thing (central defenders rarely have more than an average of 2), and clearly Enzo plays a role which allows him to make a lot of tackles, but it’s still mighty impressive. It shows he’s more than just a pretty passer, and also explains how a midfield two of the Argentine alongside Mateo Kovacic is able to function without being overrun.
