Some fans react as Chelsea defeat Tottenham Hotspur for the third time in January

It was the same old at Stamford Bridge as Tottenham Hotspur succumbed to a poor 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.

Spurs have now lost three times in January to their London rivals. Antonio Conte‘s side were far from their best and had no answer to Thomas Tuchel’s tactics, coming out second best on the night.

In a game of few chances, Harry Kane looked to have given the visitors the lead in the first half. However, Thiago Silva made the most of a tussle in the leadup to the goal and VAR ruled out what looked to be a perfectly good strike by the English skipper.

Spurs’ lack of cutting edge came back to bite them as Hakim Ziyerch curled him an excellent strike to give the home side the lead. Thiago Silva then gave his side breathing space with a second goal, effectively putting the game to bed.

It was a disappointing return to Stamford Bridge for Conte, who has now lost twice at his former home in the same month. This also happened to be his first league in the Premier League since taking over as Tottenham.

Kane’s first-half strike was ruled out.

The loss leaves Tottenham in the seventh spot, two points off the fourth spot with two games in hand. If the performance on the night is anything to go by, we will need to vastly improve to stand a chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

For now, we take a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to the loss on Twitter.
