According to Dutch media, Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United have shown ‘concrete interest’ in Heracles Almelo midfield captain Brian De Keersmaecker.

It has been reported by De Telegraaf based on English sources, and an adventure in the Championship could beckon for the captain of the Almelo team.

De Keersmaecker saw a transfer to FC Midtjylland fall through in January, but now that the season is over, he seems to be allowed to leave Almelo. After two seasons at Heracles, in which the midfielder grew into an important asset and captain, a move abroad seems imminent.

Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United, among others, have already reported for the 25-year-old Belgian, according to De Telegraaf.

For Heracles, a departure is negotiable, but the club wants to collect a ‘nice transfer fee’ for the midfielder. De Keersmaecker came over from FC Eindhoven two years ago for an amount of 400,000 euros.

De Keersmaecker played a total of 70 official matches for Heracles, where his contract runs until the summer of 2028. In those matches, he scored seven times and provided six assists. Before his years at FC Eindhoven, the Belgian also played in the youth academies of Beerschot and Club Brugge.
