Engle scored four goals in the United States’ victory over Guyana at the Women’s U-20 Championship

MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship continued Friday as the United States took a victory and the lead in Group A at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
U.S. forward Izzy Engle took the spotlight on matchday two with four goals to take the lead in the race for the Top Scorer Award.
United States 8, Guyana 0
The USA earned an 8-nil win over Guyana to take its first victory of the 2025 edition.
Izzy Engle opened the scoring in the 5’, and Kennedy Fuller doubled the lead in the 13’ from the penalty spot. Engle secured her brace in the 24’ with an assist from Fuller.
Sealy Strawn added to the U.S. tally in the 25’ with a first touch off her left foot. Linda Ullmark, who assisted Strawn, wrote her name on the scorers list in the 37’.
Engle completed her hat-trick in the 41’ with a shot from outside the box, placing The Stars and Stripes up by six at halftime.
Engle continued scoring in second half, getting her fourth of the day in the 48’. Emma Johnson struck a loose ball in the 77’ to put a bow on the victory.
Costa Rica 0, Puerto Rico 0
A nil-nil draw between Costa Rica and Puerto Rico provided the first stalemate of the tournament.
Puerto Rico had the clearer chances in the closing minutes of the first half, as Susana Roberts attempted to break the deadlock in the 41’.
Alondra González had a chance to give the hosts their first goal of the match in the 78’, but her header went above the crossbar.
Neither team would be able to find the match-winner as each side took a point. Goalkeepers Valeria Fernández of Costa Rica and Alondra Iriarte of Puerto Rico each collected their first clean sheet of the campaign.
